Y.M.C.A Warriors 3 Charlton Rovers Blues 0

After the well earned draw with Bourton Rovers, the Blues took the field against second in the table Y.M.C.A Warriors. The two teams faced off for the kick off and it was clear to see that the Blues were going to be up against a big, physical side - the average height of the Y.M.C.A players matched the tallest Blues player. But hopefully size wouldn't matter.

Y.M.C.A were the first to attack, but their attempt on goal saw the shot pass wide of Henry's goal.

The Blues moved the ball forward and Will earned a free kick outside the Y.M.C.A penalty area. Will took the free kick and had his initial shot headed back to him. Will shot again, but this time the ball was cleared down field where Y.M.C.A earned a corner. At the corner the Y.M.C.A striker pranced around in front of Henry like a ballerina who had eaten a packet of smarties. It was most bizarre and provided the crowd with some light hearted entertainment.

More bizarre goings on followed as the referee gave a free kick against the Blues for an unknown incident just outside the Blues' penalty area. Unfortunately this was to prove costly as from the resultant kick, the Y.M.C.A striker curled in an effort that sailed passed the turned back of the Blues defender and into the corner of the Blues' net. It was a poor goal to concede and boosted the confidence of the Y.M.C.A players.

Y.M.C.A broke through the Blues' defence, running at pace but fortunately their end shot went straight into the well positioned Henry in the Blues goal.

The next action saw a Y.M.C.A throw in on the left just outside the Blues' penalty area. Joe A slid in with another good challenge, but saw the ball squirm in field where it was controlled by the Y.M.C.A midfielder and curled, side footed, beautifully into the corner of the Blues' goal from outside the Blues' penalty area. The score moved to 2 - 0 and it was looking ominous for the Blues.

Y.M.C.A continued to dominate the game and had five more attempts on goal but were unable to increase their lead before half time.

The second half saw much the same as the first with Y.M.C.A dominating proceedings. Firstly Ben had to clear off the line following a scramble in the penalty area.
Y.M.C.A continued to attack and Henry had to be at his best on numerous occasions to keep the score at 2 - 0.

Just before the end of the match Y.M.C.A attacked down the right following a throw in. A superb cross sailed over the outstretched arms of Henry and was met by the ballerina striker who was able to get the touch that sent the ball over the Blues' goal line and into the net to make the score 3 - 0.

The Blues' were tired and the final whistle came as a welcome relief.
